Nottingham Forest star set to join Chris Wood for imminent contract talks
Nottingham Forest have made a blistering start to the Premier League and after two wins in a week, the Reds are seventh in the table.
Not even the most passionate and ardent supporters could have predicted this start and it’s nice – for now – not to be looking at the relegation zone.
Forest have had a number of top performers so far this season – with the recruitment now in the headlines for all of the wrong reasons which makes a refreshing change.
Elliot Anderson was hailed by Gary Neville for his heroics against Leicester on Friday, whilst Ryan Yates and Nicolas Dominguez were also standout performers.
Now, it would appear that the fine start to the season has actually prompted Forest into action when it comes to the current squad, with new contracts thought to be in the offing.
Nottingham Forest to open talks with star man after Chris Wood
According to The Telegraph, Forest want to move quickly to get Chris Wood tied down to a new contract at the City Ground.
It’s thought that he’s going to win a two-and-a-half-year deal on Trentside and given his goal haul that would be extremely well deserved.
Although the player is now 32, he’s fit, firing and ultimately, he has a lot of football left in his legs just yet.
Now, the report claims that another player is going to get rewarded with a new deal too, with discussions taking place between Ola Aina and his agent.
The Nigerian has been played as a right-back more often than not this season with Alex Moreno coming into the team on the opposite side.
He’s playing quality football at the moment and clearly Forest are keen to get the two players tied to new deals ahead of their contracts expiring next summer.
Aina richly deserves a new Forest contract
At 27, it’s nice that Aina has finally settled in England having struggled to do so when he was at Chelsea.
