Newcastle fans: Callum Wilson is ‘finished’ after confirmed news
Newcastle fans are furious after manager Eddie Howe admitted he’s unsure when Callum Wilson will make his return from injury.
The 32-year-old has missed all of Newcastle’s opening 10 games across all competitions so far this season after picking up a back injury.
Wilson missed 26 games for Howe’s side in 2023-24 but the manager fought to keep the striker over the summer transfer window after he was linked with a move away.
When asked about whether he may be back in time for their clash with Chelsea after their 1-0 Premier League defeat to Brighton on Saturday (October 19), Howe said, “He’s (Wilson) close.
“He’s trained and looked really good, but collectively we have to make a decision on the long-term interests of Callum. What we don’t want to do is push him too early, so let’s see how he does this week.“
Newcastle fans want to cash in on Callum Wilson
The Tyneside club haven’t scored a goal from open play in three Premier League games, with last season’s top goalscorer Alexander Isak only managing one in six league games.
Fans are starting to get frustrated, with many taking to X, formally known as Twitter, to voice their frustrations over Wilson’s ongoing injury issues.
However, his name emerged on Newcastle’s list of names to strengthen their right-wing position, which Eddie Howe has earmarked as a crucial area for improvement.
Despite that interest, Brown has explained that the Magpies remain wary of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules after coming close to a breach in the summer.
Since his move to the South Coast in 2023, Semenyo has scored 12 goals and provided three assists in 56 games, with three goals and one assist in eight games so far this season.
Brown, who has worked closely with players and agents at the top level including in over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Bournemouth have set their asking price high to ward off interest.
