UNBELIEVABLE NEWS; Sunderland AFC are bringing him back…
I’m normally not one to commend an international break, but I’ll give this one its due as we came back from it looking energetic and refreshed!
Not much of note to talk about in the opening forty five minutes.
Both teams looked very capable out of possession but what I will say is that Chris Mepham was quality. You can see why Bournemouth paid big money for him but at the same time, I can’t see why they let him go out on loan?
I’m not complaining because he’s been a real asset for us and some of the interceptions and last-ditch tackles in the first half were top class.
We were ultimately saved by the woodwork in the second half, but apart from that, Hull didn’t have a sniff. Dan Neil looked more settled as a number six and made some good tracking runs, as well as nipping in to win the ball off their toes, but I’d still prefer him further forward!
Jobe and Chris Rigg were good and Romaine Mundle was tireless, but Patrick Roberts was a bit off the boil as he looked to cut inside too much, when crossing with his right foot seemed easier.
We would be raging about the goal if it had happened to us. However, Wilson Isidor still had about eighty yards to run with the ball while a defender was breathing down his neck. That little stutter and shuffle sent him to the chippy, and the finish was tres magnifique!
Although they’ve all had a good rest, a long away trip to Luton is up next and after they won 3-0 in their local derby, we’ll need to be fully at the races on Wednesday night!
A well fought win and a cracking goal. I can’t believe the Hull manager suggested that referees should know which corner or set piece routines teams are going to select. He talks too much!
