Breaking News:Celtic make a renewed move for January transfer target

Having tackled the goalkeeping department, Celtic are moving on to other priorities in the team via the summer transfer market.

Manager Brendan Rodgers made it crystal clear after defeating Manchester City that the club will be pursuing several targets over the coming month.

He held discussions with Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay, reiterating his desire to strengthen the squad and push on from last season.

Now there’s a bit of movement, with reports today indicating that the club have made new enquiries to bolster problem positions such as left-back.

Celtic keen on loan move for Hugo Bueno

BBC journalist Nick Mashiter reports that Celtic have contacted Wolves about signing defender Hugo Bueno on loan. There are ongoing talks between the two clubs.

No agreement has been reached but Celtic hold a long-term interest in the Spanish U21 international so fans will hope for a positive result from that intent.

Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph reported at the end of the January transfer window that Wolves had knocked back a Celtic loan bid for Bueno, as the clock ticked towards the end of deadline day.

With no room for further discussions, nothing came of the enquiry, but there’s this time there’s space to get a deal over the line.

Bueno can compete with Greg Taylor

Currently, only homegrown Academy options support left-back Greg Taylor at Celtic, whose contract has less than a year to go until it expires.

Bueno is still just 21 but has 42 English Premier League appearances under his belt and has been rated within the Spanish national set-up too.

With more chance of a regular game in Scotland, you can see why Celtic may be an attractive destination for a young, ambitious talent to make a name for themselves.

This is a credible link and it’ll be interesting to see where the story goes over the next few days.
