BREAKING NEWS :Brendan Rodgers Confirmed the departure of Nicolas Kuhn on January transfer….
There was some excitement around the signing of Nicolas Kuhn last winter. The German winger had had spells at Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Ajax but it had not worked out for him at any of those clubs. Instead, he had found his footing at Rapid Vienna and his form with the Austrian side was enough to convince Celtic to go out and sign him.
Kuhn did not really impress upon arrival at Celtic though. He had a few goals and assists here and there but his output was nothing special and by the end of the season, James Forrest was ahead of him in the pecking order.
Thus, some fans might have already written the move off as another failed project signing by this summer. But Kuhn has been proving the doubters wrong this season and has arguably been Celtic’s best player so far.
His efficiency has increased multifold within the space of a summer. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Kuhn has scored 6 goals and provided 8 assists in 11 appearances this season so far.
Celtic warned about Nicolas Kuhn by Rapid Vienna CEO
The Hoops have been told though that Kuhn leaving the club is inevitable and to enjoy his football while they can. As reported by the Daily Record, Rapid Vienna CEO Steffen Hofmann said to The Celtic Way:
To be honest, Celtic fans are used to seeing their best players leave. Just this summer, Matt O’Riley joined Brighton & Hove Albion. So, if Kuhn were to do the same at some point in the future, it would not come as a major surprise to anyone.
In fact, if Kuhn can carry on performing like this, it would only be a matter of time before English clubs come calling. That is just the reality of the situation and one that pretty much every Celtic supporter is well aware of.
