Nottingham Forest ‘proposal’ rejected as Premier League rivals set out transfer plan

Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Reds reportedly thwarted in attempt to sign Aston Villa youngster

Nottingham Forest appear to have failed in an attempt to prise away promising Aston Villa youngster Lamare Bogarde.

The Reds were linked with the 20-year-old earlier in the summer amid a key theme of this transfer window being targeting young talent. There was talk of a potential £4 million deal between the two clubs.

However, Villa’s plans for the defender have now been laid out. And it seems a switch to the City Ground is unlikely.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the West Midlands outfit have rejected a “proposal” from Forest for Bogarde. Rather than selling the Netherlands under-20 international, it is said Villa plan to extend his contract and oversee a loan move.

Bogarde has already gained experience on loan at Bristol Rovers. Earlier this month, reports suggested he had loan interest from the Championship and abroad.

On social media, Romano states “many clubs” remain keen on snapping up the Dutchman. However, it is said only the “right project” will get the green light.

The Reds have made five signings so far this summer. Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, defender Nikola Milenkovic, right-back Eric da Silva Moreira and midfielder Elliot Anderson have been getting to know their new teammates before the season begins, while midfielder Marko Stamenic immediately headed to Olympiacos on loan after putting pen to paper.

Forest’s recruitment drive is not over yet, though. Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad still requires strengthening in some areas of the pitch as the Portuguese looks to oversee progress in the Premier League in 2024/25.

It could be an exciting season ahead for Nottingham Forest as they look to push on under Nuno Espirito Santo.

After successive relegation fights since their return to the top-flight, the Reds are hoping this time around will be different.
