Tottenham Hotspur superstar: I think my presence is no longer needed am leaving..
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has been a missing figure from England camp off late. It started with the European Championship in the summer where Gareth Southgate decided against taking former Leicester City midfielder to Germany with the Three Lions squad.
Many pondered how the 28-year-old return from the summer break following his England snub, and to his credit, James did return back to Hotspur Way with a renewed desire and a fire in his belly to prove his credentials. We have seen Maddison put in some good performances in the League this season and many wanted that to be reciprocated with a Three Lions call up.
Lee Carsley decided to follow Gareth Southgate’s path to keep Maddison away from the English camp and John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, expects the midfielder to be unhappy following yet another England snub. He did express that it’s not surprising for the Spurs midfielder to miss out on the Three Lions call up for the October break as he goes on to compare the player with others in the squad.
While James Maddison has been playing some decent football in the 2024/25 campaign, there are one too many quality midfielders in the English camp. And as a result, Maddison needs to start delivering more output on consistent basis to make a case for himself.

“However, I think he will realise we are only seven games into the Premier League season. As a result, he just needs to keep working hard and pushing for the next internationals.”
“I wasn’t surprised that he was left out of the England squad. Cole Palmer is in phenomenal form, Phil Foden is already established.
