Arsenal once again look like firm challengers for the Premier League title.

The North Londoners have made a productive start to the new campaign as they reside just a point adrift of league leaders Liverpool.

Summer signings Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino and Raheem Sterling are starting to adjust to their new surroundings with the former now a regular in Mikel Arteta’s side.

Already, Arsenal chiefs are drawing up transfer plans ahead of the January window and with that said, it’s just come to light that they’re keeping tabs on a Premier League playmaker.

Arsenal interested in Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey

According to GiveMeSport, Arsenal are interested in Aston Villa playmaker Jacob Ramsey.

The Villans are prepared to cash in on Ramsey next year as they’re desperate to avoid losing him for a reduced fee in 2026, with his contract expiring the following year.

North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on Ramsey’s situation whilst Newcastle United lurk, too.

Villa are looking to receive offers worth in the region of £50m.

Jacob Ramsey likened to James Maddison

Ramsey has been likened to Tottenham’s Jacob Ramsey and his FBref statistics amplify his supreme ability on the ball.

The 23-year-old ranks in the top eight per cent for pass completion per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe.

Further, Ramsey’s underlying metrics actually draw comparisons to Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, so clearly if Arsenal were to sign him, they’d be getting a top-draw offensive midfielder.

Arsenal fans will potentially be able to see two of their players facing off against one another as early as Thursday.

Gunners summer signing Riccardo Calafiori has linked up with Italy for their games against Belgium and Israel over the coming days.

Meanwhile, Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard could line up against Calafiori’s Azzurri on Thursday, with Belgium then taking on France next week.
