Régis Le Bris dubbed ‘intelligent’ and ‘brilliant’ with Sunderland top of the Championship
Alan Browne was full of praise for Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris after the game against Leeds United
Sunderland midfielder Alan Browne has stated that the “intelligent” Régis Le Bris has been “brilliant” during his head coach tenure.
After a protracted search last summer, Sunderland landed on former Lorient boss Le Bris following an interim stint from Mike Dodds following the disastrous Michael Beale era during the 2023-24 campaign, in which the Black Cats finished 16th.
This season, however, Sunderland are currently top of the Championship on goal difference heading into the international break after last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Leeds United at the Stadium of Light with Browne netting an unorthodox equaliser right at the death after a goalkeeping error.
“I think he’s absolutely brilliant,” Browne said after the game when asked about Le Bris. “It’s not just because we’re winning because even when we are winning, he’s looking at what we can improve on. He’s not getting up our highlights and saying well done everyone, let’s do that every week because it’s not the case, you can’t just do it every week.
“He looks at what we’ve done wrong, how we can fix it and each game is different. We’ll approach each game differently because every team is the same and there’s different ways to beat teams. I think he’s really good at figuring that out.
“One way that could continue. He’s a real calm presence. He doesn’t get carried away about anything, whether we’re winning or losing. He’s very intelligent. I think he’s a great asset to the club. He’s brilliant for not just the younger boys but myself to learn from.”
