SHOCKING NEWS;Ange Postecoglou announces the replacement of their midfielder due to..
Tottenham Hotspur were stunned by a second half comeback by Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Sunday as Fabian Hurzeler’s men struck thrice in 20 minutes to win 3-2, thereby overturning a two-goal deficit in the process in their Premier League clash.
The Lilywhites were outplayed in the latter period and failed to stamp their authority at any point in the match, while a number of poor individual performances also cost them the game. Ange Postecoglou labelled the game as his worst defeat since joining the club.
One of the team’s goal-scorers, James Maddison, spoke with the media following the match as he revealed what he felt went wrong for Tottenham against Brighton. He was quoted saying the following to Sky Sports post-match (via BBC Sport):
“Not 100% sure. We couldn’t deal with the momentum shift. We lost control of the game when the first goal went in. We dealt with momentum poorly and couldn’t get any control of the game – it felt like attack after attack.
They are a good side and have good players. Adversity in the Premier League – you have got to stay strong and weather the storm – we definitely didn’t do that. We have been on a good run, but it feels like a couple of steps back today. We were saying all the right things to not get complacent, but words mean nothing if you don’t go out and show it.”
Brighton deserve credit for showing immense mentality to turn the game around in spite of trailing by two goals at half time, but their second defeat of the season is surely going to raise questions regarding the team, especially after Postecoglou’s criticism of his side too.
The team’s intensity was unacceptably low after scoring twice in the initial 45 minutes, which was a big contrast from the attitude and body language that was on show in the earlier phases of the match
