
Glasgow’s three professional clubs could be set to SHARE a stadium in the near future with SFA president Mike Mulraney reportedly initiating talks over a ground-breaking move.
The idea of Rangers and Celtic under one roof was floated in February by Ibrox women’s chief Donald Gillies but it now appears to have taken a major step forward with the SFA seriously investigating the idea.

According to the Glasgow Times, tentative talks are underway which could see the Old Firm AND Glasgow City share one new stadium, which could also be used for Scotland Women’s games and as a host venue for the 2035 Women’s World Cup.
The proposed new venue would hold between 3,000 and 5,000 spectators and would see Celtic move out of Hamilton’s New Douglas Park and Rangers relocate from Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium.
Current SWPL leaders Glasgow City would leave behind the 2,000 capacity Petershill Park which is used as a training base for the Partick Thistle men’s team.

The logistical problems there are obvious with all three teams playing in the same league but it’s suggested that Friday night games could be introduced in order to allow two teams to play at the new ground every weekend.
It would be the pilot of what is being called a ‘hub venue’ – a stadium built with the sole purpose of groundsharing, more of which could be built across the country if plans get off the ground.
It comes as part of a drive to improve facilities across the board in women’s football and would give all three clubs a stadium purpose-build for their purposes.
