Leeds UnitedΒ have completed the signing ofΒ Ao TanakaΒ from Fortuna Dusseldorf on a reported Β£3.4million fee.

Leeds are looking to have a very active deadline day today, with multiple signings expected and demanded from the fanbase.

Leeds have now confirmed the arrival of midfielder Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Dusseldorf, signing a four-year deal to bolster Daniel Farke’s midfield options.

The deal to see Tanaka move to Elland Road sees the Whites pay a reported Β£3.4million fee – perΒ Sky Sports – a significant coup for the Japan international.

Tanaka managed eight goals and four assists for Fortuna last season as they came agonisingly close to promotion to the Bundesliga via the playoffs.

With Tanaka joining prior to 12pm today, it sees him eligible to play tomorrow afternoon against Hull City, along with potential debuts for Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon too – via theΒ YEP.

Leeds needed a midfielder who is comfortable in all phases of play, ranging from deep to on the edge of the opposition box.

Tanaka is just that player, looking confident in a variety of areas, as well as having the quality needed in the final third too to chip in with goals.

At the price he’s costing, it’s a bargain deal for Leeds to have come up with and it should have a significant impact on our midfield setup too.

Daniel Farke will be reasonably pleased with how the summer window has ended up unfolding, given the circumstances of release clauses in key players’ contracts.
